The Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC) serves as an advisory body to the Department Chair, Professor Jerome Lynch, and Associate Department Chair of Graduate Programs, Professor Yafeng Yin, in matters of student climate and serves as an information resource to current students. Minghao Chen is a first year Master’s student in Civil Engineering, with focus on Intelligent Systems. He has curiosity about everything and likes science and philosophy. He loves to take photos of architecture. Now he is interested in how our infrastructures affects people.
Christian is a PhD candidate in the Civil Engineering program working with Dr. Jason McCormick in the Structures Lab. His research involves assessing and improving the seismic performance of steel structures through non-traditional materials and sections. He enjoys watching live theater performances, e-sports, and travelling.
Cesar is a Master’s of Engineering student in Civil Engineering studying Construction Engineering and Management. Cesar enjoys playing and collecting guitars, watching college football, and watching movies.
Weichen is a PhD student in Environmental Engineering, studying hydrology and ecohydrology with Professor Valeriy Ivanov. He enjoys ice skating and skiing during winters, and reading about history.
Dan is a PhD student in Civil Engineering working with Dr. Peter Adriaens in Smart Infrastructure Finance. Her research involves impact investing in municipal bonds and infrastructure tokenization. In her free time she enjoys drawing, rock climbing and spending time with her cat.
Connor is a PhD student in the Civil Engineering program, advised by Professor Jeff Scruggs. His research is focused on self-powered vibration control systems for civil structures. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, reading, and more recently, gardening.
Ernesto is PhD student in Environmental Engineering working with Associate Professors Krista Wigginton and Branko Kerkez. His research focuses on drinking water quality trust in Mexico City using mixed methods from Engineering and Anthropology. In his spare time, he likes to dance salsa, play soccer, and watch baseball.
Brooke Mason is a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering working with Dr. Branko Kerkez in the Real-Time Water Systems Lab. Specifically, her research focus in on improving watershed water quality through real-time control of stormwater infrastructure. In her free time she enjoys anything outdoors, working out, reading, and painting.
Maria is a PhD Student in the Civil Engineering program. She is advised by Professor Evgueni Filipov and works in the Deployable and Reconfigurable Structures Lab. Maria enjoys dancing, reading, and supporting Michigan athletics in her free time!
Xi Wang is a PhD student in Civil Engineering program working with Professor Carol Menassa and Professor Vineet Kamat. She is interested in using robots to facilitate construction activities. She enjoys watching sports games, reading books and cooking in her free time.
Xinyao is a Master’s student in Civil Engineering studying construction engineering. She is currently applying for a possible PhD position. In her free time, she enjoys chatting with friends and tasting delicious food.
As the Senior Graduate Coordinator in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Anne provides administrative and programmatic support to CEE’s Graduate programs. Some of her favorite activities and hobbies include walking at night, good movies, good stories and campfires.
