Carol Menassa receives the 2017 Daniel W. Halpin Award

Associate CEE Professor Carol Menassa was selected as this year’s recipient of the Daniel W. Halpin Award for Scholarship in Construction on March 7, 2017.

ASCE Executive Director Thomas Smith notified Professor Menassa of this prestigious award, which was established in 2011 by the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Board of Direction. The award recognizes “individuals who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship that advances construction engineering as a science.” Professor Menassa was specifically recognized “for demonstrating outstanding scholarship in construction engineering through pioneering research and education in sustainable infrastructure and constructed facilities.”

Menassa’s research interests center around developing simulation models and quantitative tools to understand human impacts, evaluate risks, and assess environmental and social impacts during various life cycle phases of buildings and other constructed facilities. Menassa will be honored by the ASCE Construction Institute at the 2017 CSCE Annual Conference in Vancouver, where she will present the plenary Halpin Lecture.
