March 10 Building the Future Webinar Recording Now Available

Watch Our Panelists Discuss Engineering Innovations

U-M CEE has posted a recording of the March 10 Building the Future Distinguished Lecture Series webinar, titled “Urban Engineering: New Strategies for a Resilient and Sustainable Future,” featuring Jerome Hajjar of Northeastern University. This session highlighted CEE’s Strategic Direction of Adaptation.

Urban engineering summarizes approaches for conducting regional simulations to predict the impacts and opportunities across urban regions that are designed with more sustainable and resilient civil engineering solutions. This presentation summarized new developments to create resilient and sustainable cities through research on the built environment across several themes and also offered insights into how engineering innovations can be used to create a new generation of solutions for urban regions.

A panel discussion following the lecture featured Lawrence F. Kruth, Kruth Engineering, LLC, Former Vice President of Engineering & Research at AISC; Jason McCormick, U-M CEE Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Tabitha Stine, General Manager of Construction Solutions Services at Nucor Corporation.
