CEE Professor Vineet Kamat receives ASCE Peurifoy Construction Research Award
CEE Professor Vineet Kamat receives American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Peurifoy Construction Research Award.
CEE Professor Vineet Kamat has been selected to receive the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Peurifoy Construction Research Award. Kamat is honored with this award for his groundbreaking research in construction automation, robotics, augmented reality, real-time monitoring and visual simulation, as well as for his significant impact on the construction engineering and management profession.
The Peurifoy Construction Research Award is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of construction engineering through research and development of new technology, and principles or practices. The award was created by ASCE from Dr. R. L. Peurifoy, a principal specialist in engineering education for the U.S. Office of Education during World War II. Peurifoy led the transformation of the study of construction engineering into an academic discipline. This award was instituted to honor R. L. Peurifoy’s exceptional leadership in construction education and research.
Kamat’s current research interests are in automation and robotics, and their applications in the construction, operation, and maintenance of civil infrastructure and the built environment. Kamat has been a member of ASCE for many years, holding numerous positions such as Chair of the Executive Committee of the Construction Research Council (CRC) and member of the Board of Governors. Kamat has also been awarded the ASCE Collingwood Prize Civil in 2018 and the Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize in 2015.
Kamat will receive the award at the 2020 Construction Research Congress in Tempe, AZ, March 8-10, 2020.
