Reserve Desk in the GGB 2166 Quiet Space
We are pleased to provide CEE faculty, staff, visiting lecturers, postdocs, and PhD students with reservable hot desk space in our new Quiet Room (GGB 2166). This room accommodates various space needs such as exam accommodations, remote worker in-person days, and more.
No reservation required after 5PM on weekdays and all day on weekends for any faculty, staff, or student with building access.
NOTE: Food and drink is prohibited in this space.

How to Reserve
You may use Skedda to directly reserve space (Skedda tutorial here) or go through our regular CEE Room Request Google form.

The Quiet Space is designed to accommodate diverse cognitive and sensory needs, supporting comfort and focus for all. Whether you’re looking for a calm, distraction-free environment, dimmable lighting, or a place to go for your Zoom meeting so as not to distract your officemates, GGB 2166 has been created with a range of requirements in mind.
Current Amenities
Reservable spaces:
- 5 main sit/stand desks
- 2 private rooms with desks (2166A and 2166B)
Reserved for exams; students take priority if needed. - 1 soundproof, wheelchair-accessible private room (2166C)
Priority given to wheelchair users. - 1 soundproof Zoom booth
For Zoom calls, phone interviews, or other virtual meetings.
Non-Reservable spaces:
- Wall-mounted coat hooks
- 2 cabana chairs with high back and sides
- Distraction-free hub with a stool (semi-secluded)
Who Can Reserve?
Reservations are open from 7 AM – 5 PM, Monday to Friday, for CEE faculty, staff, visiting lecturers, postdocs, and PhD students. After 5 PM and on weekends, the Quiet Space is available as a drop-in space for all, including masters and undergraduate students.
Priority List for Reservations:
- Lecturers (beginning of the semester)
- Accommodated exams
- Staff or faculty with shared/no offices
- PhD students and postdocs
Limited to two hours per day and required to check in before the reservation starts. - Masters and undergrad students (after 5 PM, drop-in only)
Check-In and Cancellation
PhD students and postdocs must confirm their check-in 8 hours before the reservation begins, with a 30-minute buffer before start time. Failure to check in will result in the cancellation of the reservation.
