Teaching

I teach courses in the CEE curriculum covering building construction, cost engineering, engineering economics and finance, as well as professional issues and design for engineering students. On occasion, I also supervise undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in independent study sections focused on my general areas of interest.

Biography

Before coming to the University of Michigan, I was Vice President at Turner Construction Company (Turner). Turner is a North America-based, international construction services company and the leading general builder in the United States. I worked full-time at Turner for over 29 years, serving in numerous positions including field engineer, assistant superintendent, scheduling engineer, assistant estimating engineer, project engineer, chief estimating engineer, preconstruction manager, business manager, and general manager. My project portfolio includes commercial office (low- and high-rise), data center, education, healthcare, historic renovation, industrial, pharmaceutical, public & assembly, research, and transit buildings. My research interests focus on technology use, organizational structures, and project performance. Other areas of interest include design-assist contracting, healthcare design, historic renovation and adaptive reuse, legal and ethical issues, overdesign and over-specification, and procurement.
