Janelle Cramer and Mark Kleersnyder Receive College of Engineering Staff Incentive Award

Honored for their dedication, leadership, and contributions to CEE and the College of Engineering

Congratulations to CEE’s Janelle Cramer and Mark Kleersnyder as this year’s recipients of the College of Engineering Staff Incentive Award. This award is given to those who represent the values of the College and the department on a consistent basis.

Janelle Cramer, a member of the Financial Team has been building relationships with faculty, staff and students since joining the department in 2022, an integral aspect of many of her role’s responsibilities such as collaborating for proposal submissions, making unique purchasing needs and assisting with reimbursements. Recently, Janelle assisted a new assistant faculty member with a proposal submission. She gathered the proper information to ensure that all of the sponsor requirements were met, collaborating with other research administrators to gather samples to provide this faculty member. This allowed her to not only build trust with the faculty member but also continue to collaborate with other research administrators within COE.

Janelle was nominated for the CoE Staff Incentive Award for her problem-solving skills, her dedication to the department, her collaboration abilities and her attention to detail. Her contributions have benefitted not only the Finance Team, but the department as a whole. 

Mark celebrated his 8th year with U-M and 2nd year with CEE in September, and he has proven himself to be an extremely valuable member of the CEE community. Last year, he was awarded the CEE Staff Excellence Award, highlighting his dedication to the department. This year, Mark worked to set up a new hot desk software, enabling students to reserve seats quickly and easily, a task that required a great deal of investigation and trial and error. True to his leadership style, Mark documented his findings and was able to assist other departments with setting up the software a few months after CEE.

Mark was nominated for the CoE Staff Incentive Award for his demonstrable leadership, commitment, creativity and trustworthiness. Despite being the sole IT specialist in the department, he manages his time to complete his duties or works extra hours when necessary, always going the extra mile to investigate the details of any given project or question.
