Mcity Launches Digital Twin, Providing Free Virtual Testing for Autonomous Vehicles

The University of Michigan’s Mcity Test Facility has introduced the first open-source digital twin for testing connected and autonomous vehicle (AV) technologies, offering researchers worldwide a free virtual tool. Developed with National Science Foundation support, this digital twin allows researchers to simulate and test AV software in a controlled, risk-free environment, featuring Mcity’s unique road materials, markings, and intersections.
