Department Celebrates Graduating Students

Congratulations to UM-CEE’s Class of 2022!

UM-CEE welcomed graduating students and their families to the Blue Lounge on Friday afternoon for lunch and dessert to celebrate this special occasion.

Professor Jason McCormick focused his congratulations on behalf of the CEE undergrad students.

“First, I want to thank the parents, partners and friends who are here,” he said. “Thank you for your support of your students and for sharing them with us. Know that we are as proud of them as you are.”

McCormick noted that the Class of 2022 faced extraordinary challenges as they completed their degrees during the pandemic. “Each of you has grown as a leader, and your leadership is leaving a positive impact on others as you take the skills you developed here and become a leader beyond U of M. You are always welcomed to come back and share your experiences, or just say hello.”

Associate Professor Krista Wigginton spoke to the graduate students receiving degrees. “I have so much respect for the graduates today who persisted through a scary and isolating time to achieve your goals,” she said. “Leaving here with a graduate degree sets you up for a successful career. I’m excited to see where you will go and what you will do from here.”

UM-CEE is awarding 53 undergraduate and 30 graduate degrees in total this weekend. We also have 6 undergrad minors in environmental engineering. Congratulations to all of our diploma recipients, and Go Blue!
