Enrollment open for advanced certificate program in Construction Engineering and Management

The next course begins August 19, 2019.

The Construction Engineering and Management MasterTrack™ Certificate program co-created by the University of Michigan and Coursera is now enrolling for courses beginning August 19, 2019.

This MasterTrack™ certificate program prepares learners to thrive in today’s global construction industry, which needs more highly-skilled professionals than ever. Demand for construction managers is growing and is expected to continue to climb in the U.S. and around the world.

“This program is ideal for professionals who are looking to advance their careers,” said University of Michigan Associate Professor Carol Menassa, one of the instructors in the program.

Through projects designed by faculty from the University of Michigan Tishman Construction Management Program, learners will apply the project management and decision-making techniques vital to construction projects worldwide. With an effort of around five hours per week for 6 to 7 months, the Construction Engineering and Management MasterTrack™ Certificate program will prepare learners to apply their knowledge to a management job in the construction industry.

“This program is unique because it was intentionally designed for small cohorts of learners,” said program instructor and University of Michigan Professor Vineet Kamat. “This means that I’m able to engage with learners on immersive projects and give individual feedback.”

The program will focus on:

  • How construction projects are created, organized, and financed
  • Best practices for keeping construction projects organized and on schedule
  • Leading sustainability practices in the construction industry today
  • The appropriate techniques to properly account for ongoing construction projects
  • How to use the proper equipment for efficiency and safety

Learners can also earn degree credit through this program. For those who apply to and meet admission criteria, the credit from the MasterTrack™ Certificate may count toward a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Construction Engineering and Management.
