The Geotechnical group has laboratories with state-of the-art equipment and field testing facilities. The F.E. Richart Soil Dynamics Laboratory is a fully equipped geotechnical laboratory with specialized and unique testing devices to evaluate the dynamic properties of soil.
The Field Testing facilities include a a 20 ton cone penetration test (CPT) rig regularly used for instruction and research. The fully equipped system contains state-of-the-art real-time data acquisition for piezocone, seismic cone and vision cone penetration testing. The rig is also used for soil sampling and flat plate dilatometer testing.
More information about these facilities as well as our computational facilities can be found through the Geotechnical Group's website.
