| Environmental and Water Resources Engineering Funding Opportunities
The principal source of financial assistance for EWRE Engineering students are the Graduate Student Research Assistantships offered through the sponsored research projects. The second source of financial assistance are the Graduate Student Instructorships related to the undergraduate courses offered in the CEE Department. Traditionally, these sources of financial assistance have been made available to students after they completed their first year of studies at the University of Michigan. Additional financial supports include the College of Engineering, the Regents, the Rackham Minority, and the Henry Earle Riggs Fellowships. These fellowships are available to deserving students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Some of our best students have been supported by external fellowships, such as the NSF Graduate Research Fellowships, or by foreign student fellowships and exchange arrangements from their own countries. Finally, graduate students can partially support themselves by working as graders for graduate and undergraduate courses in the CEE Department and freshman courses in the College of Engineering. Additional Funding Opportunity For MS Students: The University of Michigan is a partner university in the organization “Environmental Engineers for the Future (E2F)”. E2F provides funding up to $20,000 toward a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering (approx. 10 candidates will be selected for the 2007-2008 academic year). A consortium of public and private entities that employ environmental engineers with advanced degrees provides the funds for the Program. Students must complete a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering at one of the partner universities and work for one of the sponsoring organizations for a minimum of three years. Students completing undergraduate degrees in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical and other related engineering disciplines from ABET accredited universities are eligible to apply. The E2F program is designed to encourage students to consider graduate Environmental Engineering education. Detailed information and application material can be found on the E2F website at http://www.engineeringmastersfunding.org/. The deadline for application for the 2007-2008 academic year is February 15, 2007. Related Links: |
