Professional Affiliation and Activities:
Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the Int'l Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials (RILEM); Chair of 5th International Conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures (FraMCoS-5); Chair of RILEM TC-HPC on High Performance Fiber Reinforced Composites.

Technical Interests:
My research interest includes the design, processing and characterization of advanced fiber reinforced cementitious composites, and the elevating of the ultra-ductility of such materials to the mechanical and durability performance of structural elements and systems. A special focus is on the integration of materials, structures, and environmental concerns for infrastructure sustainability. Research activities in our research group combine micromechanics analyses, numerical simulation, and laboratory and full scale field testing. The interdisciplinary research program has been sponsored by NSF, MDOT, AFOSR, DoE, FHWA, NRC, and numerous industrial concerns (e.g. W.R. Grace, Kuraray, Wonha, DuPont, Conoco, Shimizu, Kajima, Redco, Rocla).
