Professor SangHyun Lee and his student Meiyin Liu both were honored with awards during the 21st Annual Applied Ergonomics Conference held March 26-28 in Atlanta, GA. This event, organized by the Global Organization of Ergonomics (GOErgo), is the nation’s largest conference focused on professional ergonomics.

CEE doctoral student, Meiyin Liu, received the Creativeness in Ergonomics Student of the Year Award for her research on Automated NIOSH Lifting Equation. This award recognizes achievements in ergonomics application, including process improvement, education, applied instrumentation and product development, as submitted by presentation at the Applied Ergonomics Conference.

Associate Professor & John L. Tishman Construction Management Faculty Scholar, SangHyun Lee, received the Tom Waters Award for his presentation titled “Smartphone-Based Ergonomic Risk Screening.” This award is presented in recognition of the Best Manual Handling Presentation at the 2018 Applied Ergonomics Conference. It is intended to honor the legacy of the late Dr. Waters’ career contribution to workplace safety and ergonomics and his 24 years at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), leading the NIOSH Lifting Equation.
