Professor Raskin works on a variety of biological water and wastewater treatment processes.
Application areas: anaerobic biological treatment, activated sludge systems, membrane bioreactors, treatment of food processing and agricultural waste streams, including sustainable aquaculture systems, biofiltration and biofilm systems for drinking water treatment, disinfection, drinking water distribution systems
Environmental microbiology focus areas: molecular microbial ecology, antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance in the environment and in biological treatment systems, methanogenic arachaea, sulfate-reducing, perchlorate-reducing, and arsenate-reducing microbes, nitrification, foaming in activated sludge systems
